Application, Use and Safety Guide: Weightlifting Knee Sleeves
Application, Use and Safety Guide: Weightlifting Knee Sleeves
Fitting Instructions
Preparation: Ensure legs are clean and dry. If wearing leggings, pull them taut to avoid bunching under the neoprene.
Folding Technique: Fold the top half of the sleeve outwards. Slide it over your foot and calf until the bottom is in place, then flip the top section up onto the thigh.
Centring: The knee should be centred within the sleeve. Ensure the rear seam does not cause excessive friction in the popliteal crease.
Fit: Compression should be firm but allow for blood flow. It must not slide down during a squat.
Usage and Benefits
Joint Support: Stabilises the knee under heavy loads, reducing the risk of lateral displacement.
Thermal Effect: Keeps the joint warm, optimising synovial fluid viscosity and tissue elasticity.
Proprioception: Enhances the athlete’s body awareness regarding knee positioning during lifts.
Mechanical Assistance: In 7mm thicknesses, provides a slight rebound during the concentric phase of the movement.
Maintenance and Care
Drying: After training, turn them inside out and air dry in a ventilated area (never in direct sunlight).
Washing: Hand wash with cold water and mild soap. Do not use a washing machine or tumble dryer to avoid degrading the neoprene.
Hygiene: Disinfect regularly to prevent bacterial buildup and odours caused by sweat.
Precautions and Contraindications
Do not wear for prolonged periods outside of sporting activity to avoid circulatory issues.
If you experience tingling, numbness, or skin discolouration, remove the product immediately.
Do not use over open wounds, skin infections, or if a severe ligament injury exists without medical supervision.
